The 2025 US Open was pure joy from start to finish. From the thrilling matches to the stunning tennis outfits that made the court feel like a runway, I found myself enjoying every moment of this tournament. What made it even better was the timing. Finally, I was able to watch matches without setting an alarm for sunrise felt like a luxury in itself.
The Buzzcut
Lets first talk about the elephant in the room. I knew Carlos Alcaraz was winning this tournament the second he walked onto the court rocking that new buzzcut. You could just feel it. There was something cinematic about it. That clean cut, that quiet intensity. The haircut felt like he spent a couple months in the mountains training as if he was Bruce Wayne or Doctor Strange.

And the buzzcut was not just for looks. His new haircut made it feel like it was giving him an advantage. And he did it with vengeance in his game and serious flair in his look. While some people are hating on the new look, I actually love it. His new look reminded me of early-200s footballer cut. First image that comes to mind is David Beckham’s iconic buzzcut look. While I do not think the buzzcut is a performance booster, it definitely seems to help athletes whenever they are rocking the style. Personally, I think it should be his signature look. It suits his grit. It suits his speed. It suits his style. Carlos, if you're reading this: keep the buzz.

Nike’s Artistic Choice
The buzzcut was not the appearance of Alcara that piqued my interest. I could not stop admiring his all-purple Nike outfit. The deep violet set felt sleek, sporty, and classy all at once. Nike’s artistic choices for this tournament were phenomenal.

Jannik Sinner also had a great outfit for the tournament with his burnt orange outfit set made by Nike. The outfit added a form of richness to the court, contrast to the night matches, and made the final feel even more cinematic. Between the outfits and the level of play, the US Open final was so visually pleasing. I personally could not take my eyes off the screen when watching the final between the big two.

The “Big Two” Showdown
After the back to back Sinner vs Alcaraz finals in Roland Garros and Wimbledon, It is safe to say that no one was surprised that the final was going to be Sinner and Alcaraz again. While I knew it was going to be a close match-up, I had a lingering feeling that Alcaraz would come on top. Despite Sinner’s dominant victory over Alacraz at Wimbledon, the Spanish player prevailed by beating Sinner in four sets with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Every time Alcaraz stepped back up to the baseline, you could see that laser focus on him. He wasn’t just playing to win. He was playing to remind people who he is.
The Rivalry
There is honestly nothing better than seeing a player bounce back from a defeat from a previous battle. And Carlos Alcaraz did so. I honestly love that battles between Sinner and Alcaraz are going back and forth. Watching these two in a major final again makes it feel like you are watching heavyweight boxers exchanging blows. I think it is clear that this match-up is a clear rivalry. I would not be surprised if we see an Alcaraz vs Sinner Final in the Australian Open.
