I want to start by apologizing on behalf of Vintage & Coupe for missed weeks due to our coverage of the concluding Formula One season. As that sport takes a winter break, we return with college football national championship coverage.
The Semifinals
Before discussing the championship game, let's look back on the semifinal bowl games. First, these were some of the most competitive games we have watched in this year's playoff. While the first few rounds resulted in blowout victories, such as Notre Dame vs. Indiana or the crushing loss Oregon suffered against Ohio State, both semifinal matchups did a great job entertaining fans.
Notre Dame vs Penn State: Orange Bowl
Let's discuss the Notre Dame Fighting Irish versus the Penn State Nittany Lions. Before watching the game, I struggled with figuring out who would win. Notre Dame had come off a big win against the Georgia Bulldogs, and Penn State had been on a rampage, destroying teams like SMU and Boise State. However, Penn State's rampage came to a tragic end with the Lion's quarterback, Drew Allar, throwing an interception around their 40-yard line, which allowed Riley Leonard and the Irish to go down the field and end Penn State's season with a game-winning field goal. While Allar sold the bag for Penn State, I think the Nittany Lions played a competitive match. Penn State may not have come up with the big win, but I greatly respect the team and its success throughout the season.

Texas vs Ohio State
I will be honest: this game broke my heart. If you did not know before, I am a big fan of the Texas Longhorns, and I HATE the Ohio State Buckeyes with a passion. Seeing my most hated team beat Texas absolutely broke my heart. It hurts me to even write about Ohio State winning this game. However, I will say that Ohio State has dominated the playoffs. They started their run with a blowout victory over the favored Tennessee Volunteers, then went on to absolutely destroy the Number-seeded Oregon Ducks.

Fuel to the Fire
While I can sit here and write about how Ohio State deserves some profound respect for the performance, I will not be doing that. Why? Because I hate Ohio State and always will. You know who I think is the result of this Buckeyes rampage in the playoffs? The Michigan Wolverines.
Yes, I said it. THE MICHIGAN WOLVERINES.
Michigan had the biggest upsets in college football this year by defeating the Buckeyes in Ohio. The Buckeyes' devastating loss against their historical foe, Michigan, only became fuel for the fire for Ohio to dominate in the playoffs and prove all the sports critics wrong about the legitimacy of their team. So, at the end of the day, I blame one team and one team only - The Michigan Wolverines.
Thank you, Michigan, for ruining my precious Texas' season. I hope you guys feel happy with your bowl win against Alabama.
Speaking of Big Ten teams vs. SEC teams, we need to discuss the conferences' actual legitimacy, but that is for another time. Stay tuned.

National Championship Game Pick
#5 Notre Dame vs #6 Ohio State
Prediction: Notre Dame defeats Ohio State to secure the National Championship
Reason: I genuinely believe that Riley Leonard can help lead the Fighting Irish to secure the National Championship since 1988. Also, I do not want Ohio State to win. Go Fighting Irish.
